You can collect your t-shirt and race number at the Check-In Morning at the Parish Hall (Church Car Park) between 3pm and 6pm on Saturday, 1 October or between 11.30am and 1.30pm on Sunday, 2 October. If you are registering on the day, then please get there early to allow yourself enough time. All participants should be on site by 1.15pm.
If you register online after midnight on Wednesday, 28 September, we won’t have time to post out your sponsorship card, but we will have it ready for you to collect at the Check-In Mornings.
You can also pick up a registration form from participating businesses.
The 2016 Boyne Valley Pink Ribbon Walk will take place around the heritage town of Kells, County Meath on Sunday, 2 October at 2pm.
We have a fantastic 10km loop Walk/Run that is exclusively open to Pink Ribbon Walk participants. We would like to say a sincere thank you to all of the local landowners who have generously agreed to let us access their lands and premises for the day.
The Walk/Run will be chipped and pinned again and we look forward to welcoming runners and walkers, men and women, teams, individuals and groups to enjoy this beautiful road/cross country route.
Our pre-Walk warm up begins at 1.30 pm in the Church car park on Headfort Place (with thanks to the very kind permission of Father John). The Run/Walk takes us through historic Kells, with views of the Round Tower, our famous High Crosses and St. Colmcille’s House. We will pass Blackwater House before crossing the River Blackwater at Maudlin Bridge. We then follow quiet country roads to the top of Cherry Hill. Here, we cross in to beautiful open countryside with fabulous views back to Kells and over the surrounding area (this part of the Walk is over private land and will be open exclusively for the Pink Ribbon Walk). We will be following country trails and farm lanes in to the back of Headfort Estate. The road leading in to the estate is particularly beautiful, with amazing views over some spectacular Boyne Valley countryside.
With the kind permission of Headfort Estate, the walk then takes us through the old Walled Garden, the American Garden, past Headfort House and continues down the tree-lined avenue. We will finish by walking up Headfort Road – between the two Headfort Golf Club Courses – and we finish and collect our medals back on Headfort Place, in front of the Town Hall.
As always, all Walkers and runners can look forward to refreshments, entertainment and our Closing Ceremony in the the Headfort Arms Hotel (with many thanks to the Duff family).
It is a fabulous route that really showcases both the historic town of Kells and the beautiful scenery of the surrounding area.
For your safety, please note that we will be making use of the pedestrian crossings en route. Please observe the signage in place and follow the advice of our many voluntary stewards.
Most importantly of all, have FUN with your family and friends, and enjoy this very special day as we all walk together to fight for a world without Breast Cancer.
Both the Walk and the Run will start at 2pm. The pre-event warm-up will commence at 1.30pm.
The expected time to complete the walk will be about 2.5 hours, and will suit walkers with an average level of fitness. There will be water stops along the route.
Good walking shoes or trainers are recommended. We also suggest that you bring rain gear just in case.
There will be some parking available in the town of Kells but if you are travelling from outside the town, we would advise you to car-pool.
